Financial Aid Night

Seniors and parents are invited to an informational meeting  concerning financial aid, student loans and completing the FAFSA (Free Application For Student Aid) Monday, January 11 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the high school auditorium.  A guest speaker will give crucial information for any student planning to continue schooling in the fall of 2010.

The meeting is open to all interested North Putnam residents.

Free Application For Student Aid (FAFSA)

3 Ways to Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

 

1.                  Pick up an on-line worksheet in guidance, complete the form, then go on-line after January 1 but before March 10, 2010 to www.FederalStudentAid.ed.gov 

Before completing the FAFSA on-line you will need a PIN number and your parents will need a separate PIN.

You can go on-line to apply for your PIN now at the same web site listed above.

 

 

2.                  Obtain a paper FAFSA by calling 1-800-4FED-AID (1-800-433-3243) and requesting they mail you one.  You may request up to three copies.  Allow 3 to 7 business days to receive your copy.  Complete and mail back after January 1 but in time to be received before March 10.  FAFSA’s received after March 10 will not be eligible for the Indiana State aid.

 

 

3.                  Go to www.FederalStudentAid.ed.gov after December 10 to download a printable copy of the FAFSA. Complete and mail after January 1, 2010 to the address indicated on the form in order to be received before March 10, 2010.

 

 

 

North Putnam Financial Aid Meeting is Monday, January 11, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.  Students and parents may also pick up a copy of the on-line worksheet at this meeting.  A guest speaker will talk you through the FAFSA completion process as well as present information about student aid and student loans.

 

 

After completing and submitting the FAFSA, you will receive the SAR (Student Aid Report.)

Old National Trails Transition Fair

The Old National Trails Transition Fair will be held at Greencastle High School in the cafeteria on April 9, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Several representatives from the various adult service agencies will be on site with information for families with students exiting high school.

There will be a variety of door prizes and food available throughout the evening.   This has developed into a successful annual event to which students, families, faculty, counselors and administrators are invited.

PIE Breakfasts – 2009-10 Dates

The Local Coordinating Committee (LCC) for Putnam County is an organization called PIE.  PIE stands for Prevention, Intervention and Education.  This group manages the funding returned to Putnam County from court fines collected in substance abuse related cases.  PIE offers minigrants to Putnam County community agencies, organizations and schools. 

PIE hosts a monthly breakfast at the Jackson Family Restaurant (Double Decker) in Greencastle from 7:00 to 8:00 am.  All county middle and high school students are invited to attend as well as their sponsors and any other interested adults.  Attendees are responsible for the cost of their own breakfast, but North Putnam High School SADD Club provides transportation to the breakfasts on the corporation activity bus.  Students leave from the front of the high school at 6:30 am and return in time for morning classes by 8:30 am. 

A permission slip is required to attend.  Permission slips are available in the guidance office and are due the day before the breakfast.  The bus has a capacity of 14 students and seats are first come first served basedon return of permission slips.

TSLA (Teen Student Leadership Academy)

TSLA (Teen Student Leadership Academy) is one of the many opportunities available for North Putnam High School students.  The 2009-10 North Putnam Sponsor is Tyler Egli (522-0622).  Kay Grove, Dirtector of Guidance (522-0621) is also acting as chaperone for several of the various TSLA trainings.

TSLA is a service provided by the West Central Indiana Educational Service Center located in Miller Education Center, Greencastle, Indiana.  The Academy is managed by Tammy Brothers, Safe and Drug Free School Coordinator for WCIESC.  Mrs. Brothers can be reached at 653-2727.

Students may apply for TSLA during the months of April and May in order to be accepted for the first trainings in June.  Applications for the 2010-11 TSLA program will become available in the North Putnam Guidance Office in April 2010.  The total cost per student for the complete series of trainings is $525.00.
